1. Aeroplanes are slowly driving me mad. I live near an airport and passing planes can be heard night and day.

6. I have been offered a large sum of money to go away, but I am determined to stay here.

讲解：offer动词，“提供”； a large sum of money一大笔钱； be determined to do sth.决定做某事

7. Everybody says I must be mad and they are probably right.

讲解：everybody是复合不定代词，译为“所有人”，作主语，视为单数；must情态动词，表示猜测，译为“一定是 ”。
